An All-American Road Trip for Ryder | Make-A-Wish

I wish to have an RV road trip to Yellowstone | Ryder | 10 years old | cancer

It all started when Ryder toppled off of a fence and landed smack on his belly,

an accident that could easily happen to any active kiddo, but later that day when he woke up from a nap in extreme pain, his parents rushed him to the hospital. Ryder’s intestine had ruptured. The doctors also found a grapefruit-sized tumor.

His parents describe the accident as “a blessing” because it revealed the deadly illness which could have otherwise gone undetected until it was too late. Ryder was airlifted to Salt Lake City that day. After months of grueling treatment and long, boring drives to Utah, he was declared cancer-free in November 2020.

Ryder, tired of taking dull, lengthy trips to the hospital, wished for a road trip of a different sort. He wished to go to Yellowstone National Park over the Fourth of July weekend in a luxurious RV.

On his trip, he witnessed the breathtaking, annual fireworks show and presided over the West Yellowstone parade as its grand marshal. Ryder, an avid fisherman, also experienced a world-class, guided fishing trip, savored the numerous natural sites and delighted in plenty of fun V.I.P. treatment.
