More Than Just a Delivery: A Day in the Life at Porter’s Office Products

Posted by

Every day starts early, before most businesses have even unlocked their doors. As a delivery driver at Porter’s Office Products, our job isn’t just to drop off boxes. It’s to bring a little bit of consistency, care, and personal connection to every stop we make. Whether it’s a local school needing supplies for a big project or a small business getting restocked for the week. We’re more than a delivery service, we’re part of what helps their day run smoothly.

Longtime delivery driver Doug Nash – also known as Dougie to his team members – knows this better than anyone. After delivering for Porter’s for seventeen years, he’s built lasting relationships and has become a friendly familiar face to many of our clients.

“I’ve been a delivery driver for Porter’s for almost seventeen years now. My favorite part? Definitely the people,” said Doug Nash. “I love the customers, I like to interact with them. I love my team members. Those are my top two things that I absolutely love about the job. It’s the people that really keep me going.”

Doug’s route stretches far and wide, and every stop is a chance to make someone’s day just a little bit better.

“A typical day is pretty busy. I am running three routes, so I do Saint Anthony all the way to Shelley, which includes Rexburg, Sugar City, Idaho Falls, and Shelley,” he said. “I contribute to the Blue Cow Service by making sure that each customer has their product right. I take their paper and orders wherever they need it, and I always make sure to do it with a smile every time.”

It’s not just about the constant consistency, it’s about the experience. For Doug, the real impact comes from the human connection he builds with clients on the job.

“It makes my day a lot better when I’m able to interact with our customers. If a customer smiles at me, my day goes better. If I smile at a customer, I hope that I make their day a bit better,” he said. “Something small that I like to be able to do for our clients is just to talk with them for just a minute or two. I like to see how their day is going. Most of them I know by name, so I feel pretty confident to talk to them. That’s a small thing, but it means a lot to me, and I hope it means a lot to our clients.”

The Porter’s Team hopes to continue to show consistency, care, and personal connection with all of our clients and team members. Clients feel that same personal connection, and it’s one of the reasons they stick with Porter’s.

“We’ve been ordering from Porter’s for probably about fifteen to twenty years,” said Jill Miller from Yellowstone Log Homes. “We’ve been very satisfied with our delivery service. It has been excellent. We appreciate their accuracy.”

That kind of trust doesn’t come from a tracking number or a signature on a clipboard. It comes from the effort, consistency, and care drivers like Doug bring to every delivery.

Karen Dayley from Bateman Hall shares a similar experience.

“It’s been about six years since we’ve been receiving products from Porter’s. We love Porter’s, they have been amazing to work with,” she said. “They are very prompt. The orders are spot on all the time. We’ve never had to send anything back, and we appreciate that. They’re also here within one to two days. I would definitely recommend them to others.”
