Here at Porter’s, we’re lucky to have a talented team of individuals who go above and beyond to provide exceptional service to our customers. One such standout is Kysen, our accounts payable specialist. We recently sat down with Kysen to learn more about his journey and what makes him tick.
Passion for Numbers
His passion for numbers and accounting drove Kysen’s path to Porter’s. As an accounting major, he was drawn to the accounts payable role. This allowed him to apply his skills while gaining valuable work experience. “The reason I applied for this one over any other job,” Kysen shared, “is my major’s accounting. So, while I’m doing accounting work here, I can also use this as an internship.”
Kysen has been drawn to numbers since he was a little kid. He said that it just came naturally to him. “It all probably started when I got into sports.” Stats and the patterns between the numbers piqued his interest, and he desired to understand them.
The Day-to-Day for Accounts Payable
Regarding his day-to-day responsibilities, Kysen described a balance of routine tasks and occasional variety. He says typical days require a lot of daily work. “It’s usually just posting invoices we get from our vendors.” After that, it depends on the day. The first half of the month tends to be much more hectic, while the second half is calmer while he plays catchup with other duties. Kysen mentioned occasionally running errands like bank deposits or mail runs, showcasing his willingness to pitch in wherever needed to help the team.
Despite the occasional hectic pace, Kysen maintains a laid-back and organized approach to his work. “I probably finally wake up around ten. There’s no, like, lingering tiredness after the Red Bull’s been going,” he said with a chuckle. When asked to compare himself to an office supply, Kysen thoughtfully responded, “Maybe like a planner. Keeps things organized, so everything runs smoothly, and there’s no panic or anything.”
For Kysen, Blue Cow Service – our philosophy and way of life here at Porter’s – means going above and beyond to help your coworkers and customers. This allows the team to run more efficiently by completing duties and helping take things off others’ plates. At the end of the day, it’s just, “making sure everything’s happy.”
Sports Enthusiast
Beyond the office, Kysen is an avid sports enthusiast – he loves anything sports-related. “I’ll play sports like basketball, golf, water sports,” he shared. “But we’re about to be heading in the winter, so none of the summer sports that I like to do are going to be happening.” He also loves watching sports, so with football and basketball season starting he’s happy.
Kysen’s calm demeanor, attention to detail, and passion for work make him an asset to the Porter’s team. We’re grateful to have him on board and look forward to his continued growth and contributions.
